KLANG (9 July 2021) – Adopting the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) ethos of doing business is empowering Solid Horizon to become a better and more responsible company for the environment and the community.

According to James Yeoh, Director of Solid Horizon Sdn Bhd, implementing ESG is not solely for the company’s revenue, but more towards contributing positively to the country.

“Construction companies or any company that operate in Malaysia will at one point impact the environment and the society of the country. For us, adopting ESG into our business practices is not so much for us, but for our surrounding environment and the communities in the area we operate in. It is our responsibility to act sustainably and altruistically for our country,” he says.

ESG are three main factors when measuring a company’s sustainability and ethical impact. It is a term used in capital markets and commonly used by investors to evaluate the behavior of a corporation and as a tool to determine the company’s future financial performance.

Solid Horizon also believes that by adopting ESG, it will also strengthen people’s perception of the company’s commitment towards making the world a better place considering that the company’s main revenue stream is in modular construction.

Solid Horizon is a supplier and manufacturer of shipping containers. The company specializes in portable cabins, heavy duty cabins, labor quarter cabins, toilet cabins, guard houses, used containers and polyurethane cabins.

James adds that the company has already been implementing ESG efforts into the company’s daily operations.

“We save electricity and digitised all our work to reduce the use of paper, we reduce water consumption and we promote employee benefits to take care of the welfare of our workers. Solid Horizon is also internally and externally audited annually and our ISO 9000:1 and ISO 4500:1 are accredited. We are also always promoting Act 446 which provides proper accommodations to workers which maintains their basic welfare,” he says.
