UPDATED CONSTRUCTION SOP BY CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT BOARD

On 14 January 2021, the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) released an updated version of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the country’s construction industry.

The new SOPs cover all construction work stated in Act 520, consulting or professional services on construction sites and services in the construction industry supply chain.

There are 15 items covered in the activities and protocols column of the updated SOP. These include approval, information & documentation; workers; employee transportation vehicles; movement of employees; movement of building materials & supplies; SOP alerts and announcements; emergency response & management; MySejahtera app; entrance procedures at construction sites & premises; procedures during construction; toilet management; management during break times; management at end of work; management of employee accommodations and record keeping.

Among the SOPs implemented include reducing the amount of employees in offices and construction sites, transportation must be provided for workers living in Centralised Labour Quarters (CLQ), employees returning from trips overseas must be quarantined for ten days and may not attend work as well as other procedures.
